1v1.LOL Building Guide: The Four Pieces, the Edit, and the Ninety-Degree Turn
Published · 1 min read
Building in 1v1.LOL is four keys and one habit. The keys are Z for a wall, X for a floor, C for a ramp and V for a roof, and every piece snaps to a grid in front of you. The habit is putting a wall up before you do anything else in a fight. Players who lose duels are usually still aiming when the other player has already built.
The wall blocks shots. The ramp gives you height, and height wins most shotgun trades because you are shooting down at a bigger target. The floor and roof are for closing gaps — a floor under you when you are on a ramp, a roof over you when someone is above. Practice mode has no timer and no enemy, and the first thing to drill there is the pair that matters most: ramp, then wall behind it. A ramp on its own can be shot out from under you; a ramp with a wall behind it cannot.
Editing is what separates people who build from people who fight. Press F while looking at a wall you placed, select the tiles you want to remove, and confirm. The window edit — remove the top-middle tile — lets you shoot through a wall and close it again in one motion. Learn that one before any other, because it is the edit that wins a fight against another builder.
The drill everyone recommends is the ninety-degree turn: build a wall, turn a quarter, build another, turn, and keep going around a square. It sounds pointless until you do it fast, at which point your hands know the keys and the fight is only about decisions. Ten minutes in Practice a day is plenty.
